   Thanks Leonidas.  I just missed the DOC application trying to find it among the   
   dozens of applications listed.  I can now open DOC files with OpenOffice.  I   
   kind   
   of guessed what mime to use as 'application/openoffice'.  I don't know a   
   better way   
   of figuring this out.
