   A. Configure Netscape 7.1 NOT to automatically collect your email.

       From the Mail & Newsgroups window, go to
         Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings -> (*select email account*)
   -> Server Settings
       and remove the check-marks from these three boxes

         [ ] Check for new messages at startup
         [ ] Check for new messages every [xxx] minutes
         [ ] Automatically download new messages

   B. Do not ever click the "Get New Mail" button in Netscape 7.1.

   C. Configure Netscape 7.1 NOT to collect your email, even when you do
       (accidentally) click the "Get New Mail" button.

       From the Mail & Newsgroups window, go to
         Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings -> (*select email account*)
   -> Server Settings
       and where it says

         Server Type:  POP Mail Server
         Server Name:  [                ]

       add a ".invalid" to the end of the server name.
