From: radioacti...@gmail.com              So, I gather some of you folks think little ol' me--which some of you keep       referring to me with a vulgarity, something I wouldn't do to you even if I was       inclined to, which of course I'm not--is uninterested in learning anything       past high school?              Why not compound your (quite erroneous) insult by lowering it to middle       school? Or elementary? Anyone who knows me knows that I'm information-hungry       TO A FAULT. (That is, most folks find me insufferably academic.)              BUT: some of us just don't have ANY (it seems) aptitude for the manner in       which software engineers express themselves, either in their impenetrable       protocols, or in their verbal efforts to explain those things to       unsophisticated users like me. Yep, I        need to be TRAINED on my Apple, but alas, the closest Apple Store is way, way,       way too distant for me to avail their tutorials.              Fact is, I learn new things EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE, or at least try to. (As it       happened, yesterday it was mostly about some obscurities regarding the Middle       Ages in Europe, and the arcana of how quarks behave within protons. Oh, and       why the Great Salt        Lake smells so foul--something I knew from a 1992 visit there, but didn't       understand--and why those brine shrimp in there are able to nonetheless       survive. Oh, and also how an obscure late character actress I admired was       also a acrobatic pilot who flew a        German biplane, against all my expectations that she was just a minor screen       star.)              So, no, Sir Kenny, I'm NOT allergic to learning new things; my feeble mind is       apparently just not geared to understanding supposedly-simple software and       hardware lingo and procedures, at least as explained by often-smug       code-writers.              And please just ignore me rather than referring to me by anything other than       my name. That's a simple courtesy happily extended to each and every one of       you by me...no matter how much my never-to-be-seen-again-after-mid-February       postings annoy or even        anger you (and no matter how nasty you textually might be to me).              And yes, I realize the e-generation thinks courtesy and polite language are       useless, 20th Century conventions. But I'm confident they're wrong on that       point.              In the meantime, I wish you all fine health and true happiness this imminent       Winter 2023/2024...which commences when the solstice instantaneously hits       sometime during the minute of 10:27 pm Eastern Time on Thursday, December 21st.              BRYAN STYBLE/Florida              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
