From: ahk@chinet.com              Mike Nussbaum was based on the Chicago stage for decades. Over the       course of his long career, he made guest appearances on tv series, and       had supporting roles in movies. Generally, these were Chicago-based       productions. He originated roles on the Chicago stage in David Mamet       plays and also performed in their adaptation to tv and movies.              House of Games (1987) was written for the screen by Mamet (also with a       story by credit for Jonathan Katz) and directed by Mamet. Nussbaum       played one of the con men in the team led by Joe Mantenga.              He was born December 29, 1923, and died this morning December 23, 2023,       days short of his 100th birthday.              More importantly, he was still working. Mamet wrote a 15-minute       two-character play for him to perform in called Pilot's Lounge and he       performed with B.J. Jones in various theaters over the last few momths.       Days ago, he was doing dramatic readings onstage.              His union Actors Equity (left out of the SAG-AFTRA merger so he still       must have been a member in multiple unions depending on the movie or tv       production) acknowledged in as the oldest working actor.              Turn off javascript to read.              https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/theater/ct-ent-mike       nussbaum-chicago-actor-dies-hold-20231223-o2gsp5hbtncujjobygpvzzdaqu-story.html              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
