   Texas Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson,who retired from office   
   in January,died December 31st 2023,four weeks after her 88th birthday,   
   according to WFAA and others.   
      
   Grace Napolitano,a year and a day younger,succeeded her as oldest   
   member of the House and is not seeking reelection in 2024;   
   Bill Pascrell Jr. (he keeps the Jr. in his Twitter handle) of   
   New Jersey is a month younger than Napolitano and expected to   
   take that distinction in the next Congress.   
      
   Johnson was a registered nurse who chaired the Congressional Black   
   Caucus and the House Science Committee during her tenure.
