   Over a dozen years ago, my mother and I were watching the Walter Matthau 1967   
   comedy "A Guide for the Married Man."   
      
   (It's a farce in which the main character gets taught on how a man can cheat   
   on his wife and not get caught. With at least some sexist imagery, as I   
   remember.)   
      
   My mother said something like "you should be very grateful you didn't have to   
   live (as an adult) in the 1960s."   
      
   I said, sarcastically: "Someday, you MUST tell me all about it."
