   Ali Hassan Mwinyi,second president of Tanzania,born May 8th 1925,   
   died February 29th 2024 according to African news sources.   
      
   After rising through the ranks,he succeeded founding president   
   Julius K. Nyerere as head of state in 1984 and head of the   
   ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi party in 1990,ending the party's   
   sole-legal-party status in 1992 and retiring in 1995.
