   I was chatting with my pastor once about where I worked, and I mentioned   
   my boss's name."He's the man who gave the astronauts the Bible to read   
   when they orbited the moon," my pastor said. I asked my boss about it   
   later. He said, not exactly...Bibles are flammable, so they had the verses   
   printed on nonflammable paper and read from them, but yes, he did give   
   Bill Anders the idea that they ought to read from the Bible on that   
   occasion. This differs completely from what Wikipedia says about how that   
   event came about. I'm not saying what's right and what isn't, but I never   
   thought my boss was fibbing about it, and I still don't.   
      
   He's not a public figure, which is why I didn't use his name. I know he   
   was alive as of about 15 years ago. After that, I couldn't say. Most of   
   the old Apollo-era NASA guys I used to work with are gone now, as are the   
   astronauts themselves.
