   Overall longevity is increased *dramatically* with a confidence level   
   well past the usual scientific standard. (Statins prevent a *lot* of   
   heart attacks and reduce the severity of the ones that still occur.)   
   As for stroke specifically:   
      
    In people who have experienced an ischemic stroke, statins reduce   
    the risk of recurrent stroke of any type medicated through a   
    reduction of ischemic stroke. We found no increase in the risk of   
    hemorrhagic stroke.
