From: le@main.lekno.ws              LDS Church President Russell M. Nelson's 100th birthday was       celebrated by a special event at the church's "Conference       Center Theater",a venue that appears to be analogous to       the Felt Forum/Paramount's function at Madison Square Garden       or Carnegie Recital Hall...under the same roof as a much       larger auditorium that can also be a "theater".              Music was provided by a keyboardist,a vocalist, and the       church's de facto official violinist Jenny Oaks Baker,       the youngest child of Nelson's top deputy/heir apparent       Dallin H. Oaks (who turned 92 last month).Besides video       tributes, onsite speakers included his appointees and       descendants (his eldest daughter, who is 76,and a young       woman representing his 167 great-grandchildren).He and       his late first wife had nine daughters and a son between       1948 and 1972,when the son was born just after the eldest       daughter's first child (who is now a grandfather).       His second wife was by his side (she has the same name       and was the same age as his late second daughter, whose       death I noted here some years ago).              He was in shape to stand up and hug or greet the       speakers as they made their way from lectern to offstage.              The event was streamed live and is available on demand       on Youtube.              -=-=-       The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,       at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
