   I don't watch a LOT of bicycle racing, but whenever I do I always fear   
   something like this will occur, given how closely-packed the pack rides   
   (in the road-race versions of this sport), or the trail-proximity of   
   tree trunks, etc. (in mountain-biking races, which apparently was how   
   the late Furrer was competing).
