   Michael Andrew Foster Jude Kerr,13th Marquess of Lothian,   
   born July 7th 1945,died October 1st 2024 according to the   
   Herald of Scotland and other sources.   
      
   An active Conservative politician,he was known widely   
   as "Michael Ancram" from the courtesy title "Earl of   
   Ancram" he had held since birth (his father having   
   succeeded to the Marquessate in 1940 on the death   
   of a cousin,the intervening ancestors in line having   
   died in his childhood).   
      
   In 2010,after many years in the House of Commons and   
   Shadow Cabinet and government and party posts,he was   
   given a life peerage as Baron Kerr of Monteviot and   
   sat in the House of Lords by virtue of that title   
   since the Marquessate no longer carried a seat.   
      
   He had only daughters and the Marquessate thus passes   
   to his brother Lord Ralph Kerr (born November 7th   
   1957,just under a year after the current Duke of   
   Northumberland,also a Lord Ralph who succeeded his   
   elder brother)...his elder daughter is however the   
   heiress presumptive to the Scottish barony (Lordship   
   of Parliament,though similarly barred from Parliament   
   by the 1999 Act) of Herries of Terregles now held by   
   the newly-deceased Marquess's widow,who was the youngest   
   daughter of the 16th Duke of Norfolk (who also had   
   only daughters and was succeeded by a cousin in his   
   titles limited to heirs male,while three of his four   
   daughters in turn succeeded to the Herries title).
