   For whatever random reason,I've been thinking of "Delta Dawn" in recent   
   days and watching some videos.   
      
   But ever since the time a half-century ago when Tanya Tucker,Helen Reddy,   
   and Bette Midler were mocking her on the airwaves,I've felt that poor   
   woman deserved the last laugh and imagined a plot where she is lofted   
   into a spaceship to enjoy a long union with her extraterrestrial lover.   
      
   I realize this has no relation to what Alex Harvey had in mind when   
   he wrote the song (for that matter,I assumed the Brownsville in the   
   lyrics was the one in Texas when he meant the one in Tennessee) but   
   imaginations can run wild.
