   Just days before the assasination, another health insurance provider   
   said they would use a standard model of how much anaestheia to give a   
   patient in surgery, then disallow continuing anaesthesia if surgery   
   takes longer.   
      
   Of course, there's no such standard model. The time to perform a given   
   surgical procedure will vary based on complications. While the   
   anaesthesiologist doesn't literally perform surgery, he's key to   
   surgical outcomes as he's in charge of monitoring the patient's vital   
   signs and thus reducing surgical risk and contributing to better   
   outcomes.   
      
   The insurance company was embarassed into withdrawing the annoucement.
