   This sums up my attitude to a high degree, though I lean a bit in the   
   direction of "No."  The Hall is not just for skill, but for ideals of   
   sportsmanship and honor.  Rose failed in important respects.  I am not   
   saying one has to be a literal saint in order to be considered for the   
   Hall (some of my favorite players would fall well short of that), but   
   Rose went pretty low.  There is also the practical matter of pour   
   encourager les autres.
