   A diagnosis of cancer, serious treatment for same, loss of voice --   
   yeah, that guy's not going to be on active duty anymore. No chance.   
   But it was nice that they contrived a role for him. I got a kick out   
   of it and completely forgave the momentary lapse in strict   
   verisimilitude for which the "Top Gun" pictures are justly known.
