   My father had a prostate cancer operation after screening detected,   
   and raced to get the operation done before he turned 70,after which   
   the doctors more often turn patients down.(It was done in January   
   2001 and he turned 70 that September).   
      
   He had a bad reaction to the general anaesthesia involved and   
   was never the same mentally for the rest of his life,but the   
   prostate cancer was successfully removed.
