   Ha ha, that threw me for a loop. I thought something really weird was   
   going on with my content encoding. I went so far as to save off the   
   raw posting and pipe it through the od utility to look for a hidden   
   character.

   Do we have any good sources of information on what is really going on   
   here? I flatly disbelieve that dog-skull story, as I (at least   
   initially) disbelieve any story that is too "good" to be true. But I   
   have no real basis for my conclusions other than the initial police   
   investigation failing to turn up any corroborating evidence along with   
   the obvious mental illness on display.
