   The Boston Globe and other media report the   
   death of George Cabot Lodge II,born July 7th   
   1917,on January 4th 2026.   
      
   He was the son of the second Henry Cabot Lodge,   
   son of the elder George Cabot Lodge,   
   son of the first Henry Cabot Lodge.   
      
   Both Henry Cabot Lodges served in the United   
   States Senate,the elder winning reelection   
   in 1916 against Boston mayor John Fitzgerald,   
   and the younger losing the same seat to   
   Fitzgerald's grandson John Fitzgerald Kennedy   
   in 1952.   
      
   The younger George's attempt to regain that   
   seat in the 1962 special election against   
   JFK's brother Edward M. Kennedy failed.   
      
   (John Davis Lodge,younger brother of the   
   younger Henry Cabot Lodge,failed to win   
   a Connecticut Senate seat in 1964;   
   other Senators named George Cabot and   
   John Davis were further back in the family   
   tree).
