From: davidc@wa-wd.com              On this date 190 years ago, the Mexican army at San Antonio under       Generalisso Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna attacked a force of fewer than 200       Texians in the Alamo. All of the defenders and up to a thousand Mexican       soldiers were killed. During the 13-day siege that preceded the battle,       the Texian commander, Lt. Colonel William Barret Travis, sent out multiple       appeals for aid. Forty-six days later, the Texian army, inspired by       Travis's appeals and their brothers' sacrifice, defeated Santa Anna at the       Battle of San Jacinto. The Texians' battle cry: "Remember the Alamo!"              David Carson       --       Dead or Alive Data Base       http://www.doadb.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
