   Being about as well-informed as you, I hasten   
   to add that it was the Spaniards who eradicated   
   the cultures in both the south and north Americas   
   in a wholesale fashion. They can take full credit   
   for that anihilation just as the Euro-Anglo   
   contingent can take credit for the wholesale   
   slaughters to the north. And don't forget the   
   gruesome subjugation of indigenous tribes by   
   the likes of Don Juan Onate and others who were   
   prone to cut off the feet of those they chose   
   to subjugate in the present day SW USA. That's   
   what the Pueblo Revolt was all about, as I recall.   
   It almost succeeded in getting rid of the   
   foreign invaders of that era, and those invaders   
   did NOT speak English as a first language.
