   Yes they did. And while they did all that   
   they still forced the local indian people to   
   abandon there religion forget there traditions and live as the Spanish &   
   Mexicans wanted. Still a take over of the land and people.   
   Remember the Navajo in the 1800's rose up and drove all the non indian   
   people out of Santa Fe and back to Mexico. It was referred to as the   
   Pueblo uprising. It was was led my a Navajo medicine man.
