   While educating myself on this subject in the Handbook,   
   I noticed there were TWO Ft. Griffins in that era.   
   The "other" one was near Port Arthur and is said to   
   now be under a man-made waterway in that area so   
   there are no ruins remaining to visit.   
      
   I looked the State Park site up on a map and find that I've   
   driven all the major highways around that area but   
   don't ever recall coming across it. And sadly, I doubt   
   I'll be going that way again anytime soon, if ever.   
      
   Something else. I tried searching the Handbook on the   
   abbreviated "ft. griffin" and it was rejected. You   
   have to spell it out "fort griffin."
