XPost: alt.culture.us.southwest       From: jax@dontemailme.com              Seeking information on the Neely Ranch, located       at the mouth of Quitman Canyon on the Rio Grande.       That's directly west of the town of Sierra Blanca, TX.       and just south of the ruins of old Ft. Quitman.       Any reference or information will be mightily appreciated.              Who were the original Neelys?       When did they arrive in the area?       Living descendants of the Neelys?       How large was the ranch (is the ranch)?       Any antidotes about the days of Judge Neely?       Was he a justice of the peace or another kind of judge?       (My recollection is the courthouse was in Sierra Blanca)       Information on the vagabond black boy they adopted?              There are many references to Quitman       Canyon and the battles there between whites       and Apaches - that is not the information I'm       searching for.              Please post all replies to this newsgroup.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
