From: tcwhite@sover.net              I have recently been doing some genealogical/historical research on the       Cook Family. Specifically the family of Sandy (Alexander) Cook, and his       brother (I believe), Anthony Cook. I found that both served in the       Civil War, but that Sandy left the service after war, married and       settled down. Anthony, however had a less savory experience, was court-       martialed and eventually joined the cavalry under the name Melvin       Alexander King. Eventually he died in the well-documented gunfight with       Bat Masterson at a saloon in Sweetwater, Texas. I have read Gary L.       Roberts article on these men and this event, and want to follow up on a       point he made. Both Masterson and the Cooks came from Canada to New       York, before they were drawn to the west. I am investigating whether       their paths crossed (or there families were at least acquainted) in       Quebec and New York. I have no idea that anything relevent will come of       this, but it will be fun, even if I find absolutely no connection       between them before Sweetwater. Does anyone know how I might contact       Gary Roberts to open a dialog on this point?              Tom White              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
