It's       really not a good film. There are problems with the cinematography, and       the script was far too complex for a country singer's first stab at       directing.              But, in many ways it was far more authentic than almost any western       (although this film is not really old west) I can recall. Sets and some       of the costumes rang very true. And the shoot-out struck me strongly as       perhaps the only western I have ever seen in which men fought with guns       in very much the way those things happen.              Those who like their western shoot-outs in the traditional cinema style       will be disappointed - just as they would be disappointed with a real       incident captured by a magical time-traveling camera. In the film, it's       a confused, frantic shit-storm - just like the real thing. You don't       often see than, and it's very rare in western films.              In much of the film, there's a realistic feel of civilzation drawn thin       and dirty on the frontier. As I said, it wasn't a good film, but it's       worth a look, just as a matter of interest in how the west is       represented in film.              --        Gerald Clough        clough@texas.net       "Nothing has any value, unless you know you can give it up."              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
