   which even caused popular songs to be written

   While this is a latter-day "remedy" for everything   
   that ails one, it is most likely representative   
   of all the other over-the-counter patent medicines   
   that were sold in quantity in old west days.   
      
   I can no longer recall the name of the   
   movies, but the image of the seller of patent   
   medicines, and the gaily decorated wagons they   
   drove from town to town, is one of the enduring   
   subjects of old west movies.
