From: george.kincaid@worldnet.att.net              There are some good books on the anthropology of war which discuss tactics       and use of weapons by various Indian groups at different times and places. I       would guess you're interested in the Old West--the Plains or Southwest in       the late 1800s? Lawrence Keeley's War Before Civilization is very readable,       and recent. Keith Otterbein's Feuding and Warfare is more technical, but has       a good discussion of fighting using such weapons as war clubs and tomahawks.       I'll look for some other sources. I'm sure some of the historians here can       refer you to some good sources from that discipline. I tried not to list too       many sources--I hope that helps.       "Von Fourche" |
