   And perhaps you can excuse the action of   
   US Cavalry at Wounded Knee too? I make no   
   claim to being an authority on the Indian   
   Wars, and I read as much fiction as non-fiction   
   and admit to sometimes getting the two mixed   
   up in my aging mind. But I don't think it was   
   ONLY militia types who took scalps, breasts, etc.   
   as souvenirs. Interestingly, there are   
   those who have tallied the loss of life on   
   both sides, and certainly as many Europeans   
   as Natives were massacred over the course   
   of "settlement."
