   They/we are being honest about it. If I called myself, say, "Morris   
   Wilson", and blatantly lied about that being my name, then that's   
   dishonesty. My alias is plainly not my real name, and that's   
   perfectly clear and honest. Same with Mr./Ms. "Loon E. Toon". My alias   
   does give away gender however. "Loon E. Toon" is in effect an honest   
   person and can be taken as such.   
      
   Your own name has immediately and long since harvested from this   
   newsgroup by spammers as they always are. I wouldn't dream of using a   
   real name nor anything but a disposable email address in USENET. I   
   feel I should be able to be contacted directly if I'm going to post,   
   so I always have a working email address though.
