   Soon as the "flames" come out, the rational discourse has died.   
   Happens all the time since "virtual" meetings are so distant and   
   aren't face-to-face.

   Personally haven't had any problem like that, but I found that with   
   just one post, a name and email are harvested and become spam fodder!   
   I've sometimes also found lurkers who never post publically but who   
   will email an answer within an online thread. Dunno why they prefer to   
   do it that way, but I always keep a working Hotmail address to cover   
   that case.

   Sure is. Plus you aren't being dishonest since the name is clearly   
   phony. Another thing is that anything you say in USENET is archived   
   forever by Google Groups, etc., so five years later as you grow or   
   your views change, you can distance yourself from the dumb things you   
   once said in an earlier day!
