A great deal of the Ranger (and other non-uniformed officer) gunleather,
belts and buckles comes from inmate craftsmen in the Texas prisons. They
produce some very fine stuff and often have selected
officer-representatives facilitating their orders, distributing their
price lists, seeing that order forms make sense, etc. Most are serving
long terms, and they sell the business to another inmate upon nearing
discharge. Some very fine spur makers learned their craft in prison and
now produce very high-end products back in the world.
