   My neighbor is an artistic type who travels   
   to various Mountain Man Rendevouzs around the   
   SW USA. These are gatherings of individuals   
   who perpetuate the culture of the Mountain Men   
   of the Old West by camping out and showing off   
   their "authentic" costumes and accoutrements,   
   home-made leather clothing, implements, weapons   
   cooking, and of course black powder guns.   
      
   Shooting, knife throwing, axe throwing,etc are   
   demonstrated in contests to see who is most adept.   
   These meets usually last over a weekend but some   
   of the larger ones can last a full week or more.   
      
   This weekend the entire family is going along, all   
   of whom dress in period costumes for the weekend,   
   live in period structures, and genearally have a   
   fine time "camping out." Only thing is, they arrive   
   in a modern-day pickup truck pulling a U-Haul type   
   trailer with all their goods. Truly authentic would   
   mean traveling by animal-drawn wagon, I keep telling   
   them!!
