   2 - yes   
   3 - Be Inc. has been swallowed up by Palm but the OS itself (OpenBeOS at   
   least) is under active development and userland apps are still being   
   developed for it   
   4 - Zeta /is/ Be with their own commercial "wrapping".  works well for a   
   destkop OS.
