   I would imagine that is probably an issue with disconnection. (Same   
   thing happens with older Windoze (NT 4 for example). Maybe a stack is   
   not properly pushed/popped and then it stops recognizing the drive.   
   Reboot clears probably this (That should only happen with removable   
   devices though, and not a hard drive for example)

   You HAVE to restart networking if you change any settings... and unlike   
   XP the changes are committed and available immediately (XP needs at   
   least 30 seconds)
