   BeOS never ran "inside" Windows, and there has always been a possibility   
   to install BeOS to a real partition (thus overcoming the 500MB   
   limitation of the partition image file):   
      
      
   You should be even able to create an installation CD from the Personal   
   Edition data (I've never done it myself, owning the Professional Edition):
