   The only time I have found that removing a driver would speed up the   
   boot process was when I removed the floppydisk driver on a machine that   
   did not have a floppydrive. Also note that the BIOS can take a fair   
   amount of time. On most of my machines, it takes at least 10 seconds   
   before booting of the operating system itself starts.
