|    BeOS5.03 Pro boot failure    |
|    31 Jul 04 03:08:35    |
I am not having fun tonight, as my BeOS5.03 Pro froze up, and when I       went and rebooted....it wouldn't. It said unable to find bootable volume       when I clicked on my bootable volume, so I tried on the next attempt       selecting my second BeOS volume, which is not bootable. This time it       takes me to the script that says hit any key and it looks for the boot       from hardrive, and then from the BeOS CD. Well I try the CD and it       lights all but the two icons on the right, and then I get kernel panic.       It says hit the space bar on booting, to go to safe mode booting options       and select CD. I do and it does the same thing, with all icons lighting       up to boot, except the last two on the right side of the screen.              I then unplugged that hard drive and plugged one in loaded with Redhat,       and the computer booted.              Got any suggestions, or did I just suffer a hard drive meltdown and I       just lost everything on it. If not, then can I convert possibly my       Redhat Linux hard drive maybe back over to BeOS and then be able to see       the other partitions on the non bootable drive, or maybe even get it       bootable again. I wish LOL              OK, let me have what the truth is on this and thanks for taking the time       to reply. As always, a faithful BeOS user....Dwight              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
