   Booting BeOS with Grub

   Hi there,

I am very new to BeOS, so please excuse my ignorance.

I have installed BeOS Max 3.1b1 in my spare /dev/hdb1 partition (I speak
from a Linux point of view).

Then I added to Grub config file this:

   title BeOS
   	rootnoverify (hd 1,0)
   	makeactive
   	chainloader +1

but it does not boot, saying:

Error 21: selected disk does not exist

In my /boot/grub partition I have:

   [jack@coppermine grub]$ ls
   device.map grub.conf~ minix_stage1_5 ufs2_stage1_5
   e2fs_stage1_5 iso9660_stage1_5 reiserfs_stage1_5 vstafs_stage1_5
   fat_stage1_5 jfs_stage1_5 splash.xpm.gz xfs_stage1_5
   ffs_stage1_5 menu.lst stage1
   grub.conf menu.lst~ stage2

There I don't see any BeOS FS stuff, maybe that's the problem?

   Also, look at this:

   [jack@coppermine grub]$ /sbin/fdisk -l /dev/hdb

   Disk /dev/hdb: 81.9 GB, 81964302336 bytes
   16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 158816 cylinders
   Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
   /dev/hdb1 1 2025 1020096 eb BeOS fs
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
   /dev/hdb2 2033 158816 79019136 f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
   /dev/hdb5 2033 158816 79019104+ 83 Linux

Is it any meaningful to you?

Thanks for any advice, if you need any additional info just ask.
