   That's up to your liking, both ways should work.

   BeOS does have read-only support for NTFS, but unforunately NTFS5 used   
   in XP changed enough to break that compatibility. On the other hand   
   Windows has never played well with non-MS file systems, so any version   
   of Windows will just ignore the BeOS partition, and I haven't heard of   
   any addon that enables BeFS compatibility yet.   
   If you want to exchange it might be a good idea to create a small FAT   
   partition as well.

   The latest official release of BeOS is probably only available from eBay   
   and similar services. There is a Personal Edition that is free, but   
   you'll have to burn your own CD, since you cannot launch it from XP due   
   to the incompatibility with NTFS5:
