No real "installation procedure" for me either. I go to "install software"
(and note, I don't need a software CD or anything, although they can be
used, they weren't in this case). And I browse through the software
avaliable online. Basically, at this point I'm still effectively
*shopping* for software....although this is the free stuff. I find
something I like, I check a box. I click "install." Everything is
downloaded and installed on my computer. The apps are added to the main
   menu automatically. That's it.

Different, but not really more difficult. Any software in "Mandrake RPM"
format can be installed just like that.

Sure, on Linux, I'd still use Scribus. :-)

Either that or one of the professional, CSS desktop publishing
   applications for Linux. Like PageStream....oooh, I just checked...it's a
   GNOME/GTK application. Sweet.

   Didn't expect you to.

Sure, was mainly refering to your Linux knowledge. However, with the rate
of development and how quickly new and improved releases happen....it
won't be too long before Apple has to do *something* to keep up.

GNOME is integrating a feature *very* much like Spotlight into it's
Nautilis file manager in the next release...which won't be too long, a
   matter of months.
