OK, I found the problem and it was this. When I rebooted into BeOS with   
   the Valor modem and it did its DHCP thing Valor gives out a wrong   
   Primary DNS address and this left the other address for econdary adress   
   still filled out for the other service. When the non Valor DNS went down   
   and stopped working, then I could not connect past their system to the   
   internet.   
      
   I called Valor and requested their DNS addresses and filled them in and   
   it works perfectly under BeOS, with no added  software for PPP0. Just   
   DHCP the info in Networking and then put in the correct DNS addreses and   
   you are ready to go. Wow wow wow LOL   
      
   That problem of the other service not getting me on the internet for   
   minutes or hours at a time has been going on for months. They are about   
   to get an ear full...Dwight
