   Compared to the current crop of x86 machines, Macs DO appear to be   
   underpowered, overall. Certainly the concensus in the Maya forums is that if   
   you don't have a need for a Mac, a PC gives you more bang for the buck.   
      
   This may change with Tiger, and/or better compilers and/or new CPUs, but   
   that's the concensus right now.
