   Sure. Want to make it official? Compare a dual-Opteron with Hyper-   
   transport RAM to a dual G5 and run a memory throughput test. Ouch.   
   It'll be ugly. Wait much longer, even the dual-core desktops will   
   be chomping at the bit.   
      
   Graphics performance? Try out SLI versus Mac.

   If they forked OS X and had a version to take specific advantage of   
   the G5, it would probably also help, but they probably don't have   
   the horsepower or incentive to keep two or more versions afloat at   
   the same time.   
      
   I'm guessing (??) that Apple does not have a way that you can rebuild   
   the OS X kernel to take specific advantage of the G5 instruction set,   
   ala Linux? That might be a way to shorten up the differences until   
   IBM gets the PowerPC up to where it is supposed to be.
