We are often       so close to a topic that we struggle to step back from it far enough to       explain it to others who have no idea about the background.              I don't know what the answer is but here are some guesses:              * People need to know a rationale. Otherwise they will keep wondering       what the point is, and then will imagine the overarching idea is       something other than what it is.              * Explain all the parent goals. Instead of, say, "I need to produce navy       blue text" there would be a hierarchy such as               I want my code to help visually impaired people        I have already covered red/green colour blindness        The standard blue is more cyan and is not a problematic shade        Therefore I need to produce truly navy blue text              * Be prepared to set out the basics repeatedly as other people are       unlikely to really be interested in our code or our goals and they may       not have read a prior post or remembered the points from it.              * Have the basics as brief as possible so that they don't take up a lot       of space.              * Have multiple web pages which explain different parts of the plan.                     >       > Although sometimes I actually show it working and people       > still say it won't work.              Of course. I expect people told Columbus he would fall off the edge. ;-)                     --       James Harris              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
