Only 3 years? Ouch. This machine is 8 years. The one before that was
6 years. It died from overheating issues. Video card BGA chip kept
un-soldering. It's really difficult to do reflow soldering at home
with a hair dryer ... Later, I found out that the case was missing a
rear cooling fan. The main source of heat issues. And, the I noticed
power supply fan was in upside down from the manufacturer. It has a
bottom fan instead of a rear fan. That power supply is still working
in this machine though. I think it's now around 12 to 14 years old.
Don't jinx me! Of course, there was a time when I'd build a new
computer every couple of years. That's just too costly and too
disruptive to my life, i.e., backup/restore/reinstall etc. Personally,
I'd rather have a stable platform for at least a decade. Most of my
stuff from the 90's was lost due to failures and upgrades.

What? Something displaced Loonix at the top of your list? OMG. It
   must be a new era.

There are a couple of weird glitches with Firefox 93.0 too. I haven't
tracked these down. I'm just living with them, hoping for 94.0 being
   clean.

Roughly, people are promoted to the level of their incompetence. I.e.,
good programmers/engineers become bad managers, etc. So, there are no
good programmers/engineers in organizations with hierarchical
   management.
