   Earlier than that. IBM in the '60s had BSL (basic systems language), which   
   they used extensively. The follow-on was PL/S (a variant of PL/I) followed by   
   its proprietary PL/AS, which is still considered top secret even though it has   
   now been replaced by    
   PL/X - also top secret.
