   I wish to run PDOS-generic.   
      
   I can most definitely do a malloc of 8 GB under z/OS in AM64   
   to get a contiguous 4 GB area on a 4 GB boundary, suitable   
   for running 32-bit software, so long as I carefully fudge the   
   high 32 bits of registers before running it.
