The batteries I worked with were lead acid

The 'three year' replacement cycle does not apply to other types.

The UPS systems I have in my home were all
   customer discards.

two of them have batteries about the same size as used i n cars. They
have a replacement cycle of 10 years.

The ones I have are older and still good.

I have at least 24 hours of backup with some of my systems
