As an experiment, I transferred over 10 GB of data from the       desktop to a spare hard drive and didn't make any difference, so I       assume the desktop data didn't matter. Maybe try the same thing with       home next, not sure.              In the past, I always had to delete previous kernals and it would solve       this issue.
